Natural Ways to Keep the Bugs Off Your Apartment’s Patio

Many of our TriBridge Residential apartments feature lovely patios and porches. And with summer right around the corner, now is the perfect time to be out enjoying them!

Rosemary plants can help keep mosquitoes away!

To help you make the most of your patio, here are a few natural tips to keep it bug free:

  • If there are bugs on your patio, get rid of the things that are attracting them. Making sure that there is no standing water, trash, or uncovered food on your porch should always be the step in fighting off bugs.
  • Plant a bug repelling garden! Rosemary, catnip, and marigolds will all help repel mosquitoes and they will make your porch look and smell great.
  • Keep ants away. If you’re trying to keep ants away, consider a natural and non-toxic repellent. Strangely enough, ants avoid cucumber slices and refuse to cross chalk lines.

Apartment Cleaning: Cleaning off Summer Sunblock

We all know how important wearing sunblock is, especially during the summer months. Unfortunately, applying sunblock to your children or pets (it’s a good idea to apply sunblock to the ears, nose, belly and groin areas of your dog) can quickly lead to quite the mess in your TriBridge Residential apartment.

Keep your furniture and walls safe from sunblock this summer!

To help clean up those stains, here are ways to remove sunblock from various surfaces in your apartment:

Walls – To clean accidental sunblock smears on your apartment’s walls, try dish soap and a wet rag, a commercial degreaser, or a 10:1 solution of vinegar and water.

Fabrics – Scrap excess sunblock from fabrics before using an enzyme cleaner. Air dry once clean.

Leather – No matter what you do, do not  apply water to a sunblock stain on leather. Water will only cause the stain to run and spread. Instead, use a commercial degreaser specially formulated for leather.

Suede – Like leather, adding water to a sunblock stain on suede will only cause it to spread. Instead, apply cornstarch to the area and let it sit for 10 minutes. Finish by lightly brushing with vinegar to remove the remaining residue.

Keep your Dog Cool this Summer with these Tips

The summer months are great but there are times when you want to retreat from the summer sun and hot weather. While you are finding ways to retreat at your TriBridge Residential apartment you may also want to keep in mind how to keep your pet cool this summer during the hot months.

Listed below are some steps you should take to keep your pet cool this summer.

  • Be smart when exercising your pup. It is usually best to walk your dog in the early hours of the morning and later in the night.
  • Avoid asphalt. Remember that your pouch isn’t wearing shoes like you. On a hot summer day, asphalt can easily burn the pads on your dog’s feet.
  • Keep your pet trimmed and well groomed especially if your dog is of a long hair breed.
  • Just as you like the shade, ensure that your pet always has a shady place to go to as well.
